Marina has built her career fighting for civil rights through both legal and political advocacy. Before joining the Houk Employment Attorneys, she worked as an independent legal contractor, representing clients in employment and labor matters. Marina also pursued her passion for politics as a Political Compliance Specialist, helping elect top Arizona officials and grassroots political organizations.

She led fundraising efforts for a successful Congressional campaign and worked as an immigration law clerk, assisting indigent clients from Central and South America in securing legal pathways to citizenship.

As a child, Marina immigrated to the U.S. as a refugee from Bosnia and Herzegovina. She later graduated from Arizona State University (ASU) and earned her JD from ASU’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, where she received the highest honors for pro bono service. While at ASU, Marina was deeply involved in human rights work, volunteering with the Human Rights Campaign and Amnesty International, interning with the ACLU and the Arizona Justice Project, and participating in the immigration clinic. She also served as Executive Manager of the Law Journal for Social Justice.

Marina values her close-knit family and enjoys traveling and fashion in her free time.
