Anna Cobb serves as a Law Clerk at Houk Employment Attorneys, where she supports the firm’s litigation, legal research, writing, and client‑focused advocacy across a wide range of employment matters. Anna brings hands‑on experience from multiple externships, internships, and legal placements, with a strong commitment to plaintiff‑side civil rights and employment law.
Anna completed her J.D. at Washburn University School of Law, where she participated in the school’s Third‑Year Anywhere Program, allowing her to work under the supervision of practicing attorneys while completing her final year of coursework remotely. As part of this program, Anna spent her third year in Phoenix working 20 hours per week for a local attorney, gaining experience in immigration, criminal defense, and family law, while simultaneously completing three online classes.
Dedicated to building strong writing and advocacy skills, Anna has served in several legal roles, including an externship with the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, where she observed investigations involving whistleblower issues and employment discrimination. She previously worked at a law firm in Tucson, assisting with Ninth Circuit and Board of Immigration Appeals briefing, gaining extensive experience in legal research and drafting.
Before attending law school, Anna worked at the International Rescue Committee in Phoenix, supporting asylum and refugee resettlement programs and developing a strong interest in workers’ rights and access to justice. Her earlier international experience includes teaching English to Palestinian refugees during a study‑abroad semester in Amman, Jordan.
Throughout law school, Anna has been active in moot court and journal, crediting both with shaping her legal writing and analytical skills. Her interest in employment law grew from her first‑year legal writing course, where she worked on Title VII issues and discovered how employment work aligned with her commitment to fairness, accountability, and workplace equality.
Anna plans to sit for the Arizona bar and remain in Phoenix, where she previously lived for several years and has strong community ties. She looks forward to contributing to the firm’s collaborative approach and developing her skills in all phases of litigation, from demand letters to trial preparation.
